A two day* Ofsted recognised paediatric course specifically designed for people caring for children in any childcare or educational setting


Who is this course for?

This two-day paediatric first aid course is designed for people caring for children in any setting. It is suitable for au pairs, nannies, childminders, nursery and pre-school workers, teachers, sport and leisure staff, crèche leaders and anyone else responsible for the welfare of children and also those working towards an NVQ in Childcare and Education.


The child carers/paediatric first aid training course is recognised by Ofsted and includes the requirements of the appointed person in the workplace. In-line with the statutory framework for the Early Years Foundation Stage, it can be used as evidence for an NVQ in childcare and education



*A minimum of 12 hours makes up these two units consisting of theoretical and practical work. This can be completed in 2 days or Ladybird First Aid has the flexibility to accommodate your specific needs if you so desire providing it is completed within 6 weeks of starting the course (For example: 3 hours every Wednesday evening for 4 weeks)



A range of subjects is covered including:-

• Responsibilities and reporting • Resuscitation • Fainting • Assessment of the situation • Head injuries • Choking • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty • Diabetes • Fractures • Infantile convulsions • Foreign bodies • Meningitis • Control of bleeding and shock • Anaphylaxia • Burns • Eye injuries • Heat and Cold • Asthma • Sickle cell anaemia



Assessment is ongoing by the instructor in respect of the student’s practical skills and there will be multiple choice question paper to answer in respect of their knowledge.


A three year certificate will be issued, subject to assessment.



A maximum of 12 students can be accommodated on this course.


Age limit

Students must be a minimum of 16 years of age to qualify.



We are able to deliver this course on your site, subject to a pre-course assessment of your premises, reducing your costs in respect of additional time



Candidates must be physically able to carry out the practical elements and assessments.
